RC Console FAQs

This document answers frequently asked questions about operating the RC Console.

Development and debugging

What is the default number of test users? Can it be modified?

The Development environment comes with 100 test users by default. This number cannot be increased. If you have used up all the test users, you can delete them in the Console and reuse them.

Can I delete users under a specific AppKey?

You can delete users in the Development environment (as shown above), but not in the Production environment.

How long does it take for a service to become active after being enabled in the Console?

It takes effect after 15 minutes.

App Key and Token

Can the Token expiration period be modified? What is the default?

You can set the Token (user identity token) expiration period on the App Key page in the Console. You can set it to 1 day, 7 days, or 30 days. The default is permanent.

Note: A single userId can obtain multiple Tokens. Each Token will be unique and valid.

If I refresh the App Secret, will the Tokens generated with the old Secret still be valid?

No. After refreshing, Tokens generated with the old App Secret will become invalid. You must use the new Secret to obtain new Tokens to connect to the RongCloud server.

Does refreshing the App Secret affect currently connected users?

The server will not disconnect currently connected users. However, they will not be able to connect with their old Token the next time. They will need to obtain a new one.

RC Global Data Center Guide

IM Service is available in data centers in China (Beijing), Southeast Asia (Singapore), and North America (Oregon) to support your global business. For details, see the RC global data center guide.

Can I change the data center after creating an app?

No. The data center cannot be changed after the app is created, so choose carefully. Currently, you cannot directly select the North America or Saudi Arabia data centers. Please submit a ticket if you need to use them.

Are the Server API domain and client navigation addresses the same for different data centers?

No. Each data center has its own unique addresses. You should use the ones displayed on the App Key page in your Console.

If you have any questions, feel free to submit a ticket to us.
