What is billing based on daily active user peak?

Billing based on daily active users (DAU) lets you pay flexibly according to the monthly peak DAU of each app, helping you control costs better.

Key terms

  • Daily active users (DAU)

The number of users connected to RC servers via devices. If the same user connects through two devices, it counts as two active instances.

  • Monthly peak daily active users

The highest DAU during the service activation period in the month. If there are multiple activation periods, each is calculated separately.

  • Registered users

Users registered on RC servers. A new user is created when a new userId is used to get a Token.

Applicable services

Services tied to DAU, like IM service.

Billing rules

Billing depends on the DAU tier used. Settlement happens at 24:00 on the last day of each month.

The calculation is: Billing tier standard × (actual usage days in the month / total days in the month). If a discount applies, it’s: Billing tier standard × (discount rate / 100) × (actual usage days in the month / total days in the month).

Daily active user count principles

DAU: The number of users connected to RC servers via devices. If the same user connects through two devices, it counts as two active instances. Each account is deduplicated daily.

Billing cycle: Measured by calendar month, from the 1st to the last day of the month. If the daily active user count hits the billing standard on any day, the month is billable. The highest daily active user peak in the month is used.
